Default ECU/PCM Difference ULEV-SULEV?

Hi all,

I have a 2001 accord SULEV 4 cylinder. I have a bad ECU/PCM unit and need to get a replacement. I know there is a difference between the VTEC and the ULEV computer. Is there a difference between the ULEV and the SULEV?

The PCM i pulled from my car has 37820-PAA-L96 on the side and 1540-401120 underneath that and says KEIHIN corporation.

Thanks for any help! Heading to pick-n-pull today...

Non-ULEV, ULEV, and SULEV all had VTEC.

There is a difference between the PCM for an ULEV vs. SULEV. The SULEV has stricter emission controls, part of this was the PCM's electronic controls affecting the VTEC function, as well as other functions for lower emissions.

So a PCM from a ULEV will not work for my SULEV?

It possibly would still run with the ULEV PCM; however, the emission controls will be altered and there is still the possibility it may not pass California's current smog tests in which they plugged into the OBD-II port.

You would also have to get the PCM reprogrammed due to the Immobilizer, which will cost you money without guarantee of how it may or may not perform.

Where would you suggest I get it reprogrammed? What's the average cost?
