95 Accord ex f20b swap need help
So here I am looking to do my first motor swap I would like to swap a f20b dohc vtec into my 95 Accord ex 5 speed over winter. I've spent hours looking online and nobody has write ups on what to do what you need or how to do it at all. Can someone please help me!
The f20b is a pretty simple swap into your 95 Accord. It only came in JDM cars from 97-01 so they are all going to be OBD2b engines. The 95 Accords and their f22b1 engine are OBD1 so you will need to run a complete OBD2 setup. The two engines are actually very similar as far as the block and internals, the main differences are the heads (SOHC vs DOHC, cam profiles etc.). Its pretty much a complete 97-01 JDM Accord swap is what were looking to do here. You COULD alternatively run your 95 Accord's f22b1 OBD1 engine harness and run an OBD1 setup but you'd also need a conversion harness and a OBD1 ecu (one for another H or F series engine possibly that would run it safely and properly), it makes most since to just do it the other way, a complete OBD2b f20b swap. Here are the basics involved and what you'll need parts wise:
Parts for a OBD2b 97-01 JDM Accord swap:
Parts for a OBD2b 97-01 JDM Accord swap:
- Any F or H series 5spd manual transmission
- F20b engine
- F20b (PCG) ecu from a 97-01 JDM Accord 5 Speed
- 5 speed 97-01 JDM Accord engine harness
- Fluids
- Tune up parts: (Good idea if your budget permits)
- Timing Belt
- Spark Plugs
- Accessory Belts
- Distributor Cap and Rotor
- Valve Cover Gasket Set
- Headgasket
- Jack up the car safely, put it on jackstands
- Disconnect the battery and remove it
- Drain all fluids (engine oil, transmission oil, coolant)
- Remove the plastic splash shields from underneath the car
- Remove the axles (separate your lower ball joints, remove the 32mm axle retaining nut, *drain trans oil first)
- Remove all the wiring connectors from all the engines sensors (It's a good idea to mark these)
- Disconnect engine harness from ecu (lower floor area of passenger's side)
- Remove engine harness and ecu from car
- Remove the exhaust
- Disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable
- Remove the are intake system
- Disconnect the fuel line
- Loosen the engine mount bolts
- Loosen the engine to transmission mounting bolts
- Disconnect the radiator hoses
- Disconnect the heater hoses
- Disconnect the clutch line
- Disconnect the shift linkage

Actually that's why I wanna do a 95 build lol in NY 95 and older are emissions exempt. But I do not have a engine or tranny yet. I wanna get details first. I'm worried about being able to use the same motor mounts and shift stuff if I use a h22 lsd tranny and everything else once the motor is in lol. But i would also like to delete everything possible. So it's all basic and less under the hood. Like I said tho it's my first swap so idk if I need hasport mounts or harness adapters. So I'm hoping someone on here has a write up bc it's actually kinda popular in these
if you look up how to do an h22a swap its basically the same thing. you will need to convert your wiring harness and you can use stock mounts our the Hasport CDH1 mount kit to put the f20b in your accord
