Default jdm ecu VS usdm ecu

Whats the difference between these two ECU's? Can I use a USDM ECU for a JDM application or will it cuase a conflict?

the only difference I'm aware of is the JDM one has a 115mph governor.

assuming you are using them both on an OBDI motor, either will work with the other.

The fuel and timing is also more aggressive because they run higher octane over in Japan.

Yes but not really. 100 RON is basically like 94 octane over here a little higher but nothing ridiculous...it's not that high. There was a thread over on PO.com about it.

never the less the higher octane does make a difference, like the difference between running 89 versus 92 or 91 octane. it is higher and the japanese gsr and japanese b16a also run more aggressive tables vs the american gsr and del sol ecu.

its only 1 point octane though (93 here in ga), how much of a difference could it make?
