2000 Accord v6 hesitation when starting and going into D
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and need help. The issue i am having seems very common to these models etc.
Basically the car runs fine for few days, then suddenly one day when u start the car all cylinders will start to misfire and check engine light will lit-up.
During this time if u keep the gas enough the engine wont die but it will die at idle.
So what i do is i rev the engine enough and immediately put it in D and drive. If i wait any longer the engine dies. As soon as you drive and engine gets into 2 or 3 gear the car runs smooth again.
This might not repeat for days or can surface again on the next start. Every time u pull codes they are just cylinder misfire only, no others code show up.
My car is at 150K miles and i put in platinum plugs at 120K miles.
Does anyone know precisely what this mess is, i am totally frustrated and it is becoming a hazard driving the car.

Does this seem to happen when trying to restart the car after it has been driven enough to be at normal op temp....like you have been driving, pull into a store, go inside for a few minutes then come to restart the ar and this is when the issue happens........or will it do this from a complete cold start?
Many of the 6th gen (98-02) v6's suffer from "heat soak" when you go through the drive...short stop time...re-start. It really shows up in the cold when "winter blend" gas is being sold.
"IF" this is your issue, you need to remember more of when it does happen, the "fixes" are from one end of the spectrum to the other. How you decide to try to resolve/reduce it from happening are going to depend on you.

try this to test, buy some ice packs, drive and warm it up, park at your house, try to duplicate the non start issue
when its not starting throw the ice packs on the fuel rail, wait a few minutes or so and try to start it
