Default Distributor Question

I finished putting my 95' civic back together from the blown headgasket. I now have to install a new distributor since the other had broken.

I set the cam gear TDC while looking down on the side pulley lined up with the white line next to the red (very faint). Now how do I install the distributor to keep all this in time? Do I just point the rotor to the first cylinder wire?

Just to be clear, line up the crank pulley on the single notch, not the group of 3. The red and white paint is usually long gone after 20 years.

With the engine at TDC, look in the hole where the distributor goes. Note that the slot in the end of the camshaft is straight up and down, and also there is a little groove which is toward the back of the car. Now look at the drive on the distributor, turn the shaft so the two tabs are straight up and down with the groove toward the back of the car, and install distributor. Do not force it.

Please familiarize yourself with what is TDC on the crank and BTDC.

Tdc, clock the rotor on the dizzy to match the cam slot. Depending on make/model. U ground service connector under dash, use timing light. rotate dizzy until w/e ur base timing is achieved. Also, set timing when motor is up to temp... YouTube has several full videos
