Noise after hitting a curb
Hi, I have a 2002 Honda Accord. I was pulling out of a parking space and thought I had enough clearance from the curb. When I started to pull forward I hit the curb in front of me. I wasn't going fast since like I said I was trying to pull out of a parking space. My car now makes a sound when I first start it that sounds kind of like a grinding sound. It goes away after I pick up speed, like over 30mph. It also makes like a louder, deeper grinding sound when I am making a turn. I don't know if the alignment is off, if it's the frame (don't think it is since I wasn't going over 10mph when I hit the curb), or radiator possibly? I don't know a thing about cars and just trying to figure out the possible problems it could be and try to estimate the repair cost. Thanks in advance!
It was the front driver side mainly. It drives fine, it's just that noise has now gotten louder and I just don't know if I'm causing more damage driving it. Thanks for your help!
Might be a tie rod end or balljoint. If the noise increased with speed and produced a steady drone, that'd be typical of a wheel bearing. Not discounting the CV axle either. None of these parts are very expensive, but labor might be high if you can't DIY. In my experience, bad tie rod ends will creak when turning in parking lots as they wear out. CV axles just click at first. Unlikely you are doing any further damage by driving it, but it can be catastrophic if a tie rod or ball joint lets go while driving!
