Default I just got a new crankshaft

I just got a new crankshaft for my Acura integra but it has 6 holes for the flywheel instead of 8. Will I still be able to put it in my car and have it run right? Is the crank throw going to be right and will I need different bearings? It was out of another car but I don’t know what type.

That’s prolly a d series’s crank shaft. I’ve never seen a 6 bolt crank shaft for B series

will it work in a B series engine?

ummm no, you got the wrong crankshaft. Don't tear apart your engine until you get one that you know is correct for your car.

Not that I know of. I’ve never tried it and don’t know anyone who has.

Someone that doesn't know the basics of B to D series parts / crankshaft interchangeability, has no business tearing into anything.

anything can work if you want to make it work lol

way back in 2001 we machined some ls eagle rods and put 19mm brass bushings in them to use on a all motor d16.

it was listed as a crankshaft from a b18b1 Acura integra. And I just asked the guy what vehicle it came out of and he said a 96 Acura integra b18b1 so is he lying and it came out of a d series engine?

Totally different bore spacing. B-Series is 90mm vs D-Series 85mm spacing...

Yes he was lying. All b series engines have 8 bolts for the flywheel as far as I know. At least any that came out of an Integra or 1994 and up car for sure.

Bore spacing doesn't really matter as far as what rods are being used. He was just giving an example of "making something work" that wouldn't normally work.

No, bore spacing matters very much, if you want the rod journals to actually line up with the pistons and the mains to actually line up with the block....

You realize qfast's anecdote doesn't really have anything to do with crankshafts, right? He was relating how they were able to put LS rods into a D16 block. They "made it work".

B-series rods, fitting on a D-series crank, is pretty irrelevant to a D-series crank, fitting in a B-series block.
LS Rods are relatively common upgrade for D16's, as they share the same length, Big end Diameter and close enough width etc....
But a D-series crank in a B-series block, is just not happening, due to the totally different journal spacing (Bore spacing).

thanks I know that know he sent the wrong crankshaft for what was listed. I’ll get another crankshaft coming.

*sigh* can you read? He said "anything can work if you want to make it work", sort of like, anything can be done with enough money. And then he gave an example of "making something work". No it didn't relate directly to the issue of B vs. D series crankshafts. It was just an anecdotal example.

I guess just about anything can work if you throw enough money at it. $20 or so to narrow LS rods for D-series use, but I don't know how many thousands of dollars it would take to totally re-engineer a b-series crank to fit in a d-series block. It would have to be welded up and milled down, it would literally make zero sense. For all intents and purposes, not practical or happening....

Yes, what you're saying is exactly right. And that was the point of qfast's post above. Anything can work if you throw enough money at it. Might be stupid or totally impractical, but it's possible.
