01 Accord V6 - Parts needed to replace oil pump assembly?
Hey guys,
I came back from an all points inspection today and they tell me a need a new oil pump assembly.
They didn't really give me details, just that I would need an:
- Oil Pump
- Oil Seal
- Timing Belt
- Platinum Spark Plugs
I would like to purchase all the necessary parts for a DIY project (instead of paying a garage to do it),
can anyone provide me with a detailed list of the exact parts am I going to need? or let me know if what
the garage told me I would need is pretty much the only parts I would need (nothing extra).
Thanks in advance!

How did they determine you needed a new oil pump?
Trust but verify, beg/borrow/steal a an oil pressure gauge and attach it in place of the oil pressure switch(#16) and monitor actual oil pressure.
Go to Majestic Honda, or any other online Honda parts dealer, and look up pricing and parts. Aftermarket is still pretty crap for internal engine components, best just to use Honda.
I would suspect you would need #1, #27, #26, #25, #24, #13 to replace the oil pump. IIRC these engines only use sealant for the oil pan(no gasket). That will cost you ~$220. But I would verify there isn't some kind of oil leak from the oil pressure switch, VTEC pressure switch, or from a leaking gasket at the pump.

Thank You MAD_MIKE, this is a huge help!
To answer your question, they had looked at the fact that there was oil sweating from inside the engine and appearing on the bottom of the car. Interesting that they had say I needed a new oil pump assembly, considering that I never witnessed any puddles in my driveway. Anyway, I feel like maybe the problem could be stemming from the oil pressure switch, as you had suggested, simply not being tightened properly and not that I actually need a new oil pump assembly (considering that they never did an oil pressure test to come up with their conclusion, rather they just eye-balled it and said I needed a new oil pump assembly).

Oil pumps almost never go bad just due to normal wear and tear. It's likely you just need to replace the crank seal but you can get the Felpro lower half gasket assembly and it will have almost all orings and gaskets you need for anything under the cylinder head level.

Then just pull the oil pump and swap out all the orings in this illustration.

Sometimes you need to pull the oil pan to get the oil pump off because there are two studs that go through the pan into the oil pump but this one might not need it. If you do, it looks like it's a hondabond/rtv type of gasket.

Without an oil pressure test, they are talking out of their collective 'holes.
It's actually quite common on the F22 engines for the oil pressure switch to leak, this can lead to the oil light flashing as well. If it is piddling around the plastic switch then it most likely is the switch itself that is leaking and not the threaded portion into the oil pump proper. Replace the switch if this is the source of the oil leak/mess.
