2015 Honda Civic - brighter halogen headlights?
Hi Civic Friends!
I have a 2015 Honda Civic LX Sedan CVT Automatic 1.8 Liter 4 cyclinder. The stock low beam Halogen headlight bulbs are 12 V, 51 W, HB4 type bulbs. The high beams are fine for my purposes, but I want stronger low beam bulbs. Yes, the lights are at the correct level and the casing is clean. B/c of time, cost, & potential compatibility issues I do not want to put any LED or HID bulbs on the car.
1. What is a brighter halogen bulb I can put on this car?
- I have seen some people mention 9006 bulbs from Sylvania / Phillips, but are these compatible w/ my car since my stock bulbs are HB4 type?
2. For any bulb you recommend that isn't technically compatible but works in real life, will it cause any over-heating or electrical or sensor issues?
Appreciate any advice you have, thanks a lot!

HB4 = 9006
HIR is your best bet. Not a direct fit, you'll need to shave some of the tabs off the base.

Third Generation Halogen Infrared (HIR) - HIR2 ( 9012 ) - 12.8V 55W - PX22D

Thanks for the detailed reply and the direct links Av911! They saved me 3.5987 hours of more research!

- So HIR2 = third generation HIR?
- If yes, does that mean HIR = first generation?
- What does the phrase "Please note that new vehicles manufactured in the last few years have this exact lamp installed in a projector beam type housing" mean on the Candlepower 3rd Gen landing page you linked me to?
- The 9012 HIR2 Philips bulb you linked me to is 13.2 V & 55 W. Would this cause any electrical or overheating issues given that the stock OEM bulb I'm replacing was 12 or 12.8V, 51 W?
1. I've been out of the HIR game since I put in HID projectors in my 2006, so, not sure about the generations. But Philips is the genuine manufacturer now, apparently.
2. Don't think it applies to your Civic. I had to get these HIRs for my brother's Chevy Volt, which has the projector-type headlights.
3. I used the first gen for awhile, nothing to be worried about.
Philips HIR2
