Default Broken heater outlet nipple

I was replacing a heater hose on my 1990 Acura Integra and the nipple on the engine partially broke off. Does anyone know if these can be replaced? Are they threaded? I have attached a picture.

You can replace it, I took it off the car and cut it down flush. Then used a 47/64 drill to clean it out and came in with 3/4 tap and put a -10to 3/4 an fitting.

It will prolly be cheaper to hit a junk yard and find a replacement.

When was the last time you flushed the coolant? I can't imagine how gunked up that engine is...

It had almost 200,000 miles when I got it, and I've been slowly fixing things. Just replaced 90% of the cooling system due to a leaking water pump. It had random cooling system issues for a couple years, so it was, I admit, run with minimal coolant on occasion due to the leaks. Pretty sure I flushed it once when I replaced a radiator a few years ago. It had been sitting for about a year up until a few weeks ago. Part of that time with the cooling system removed. I did shove clean rags in the exposed openings to help protect it from the elements though. It was not my intention for it to take so long for the repairs, but time and money were a major issue.

So I take it they are pressed and not threaded?

Yea it’s pressed in. You can thread it and go -10an or barb end .

I haven't done much research on it yet. Which part would I be replacing if I went to the junkyard? I'm assuming whatever the nipple is connected to. Like I said, haven't looked into it and I'm only an amateur handyman more or less. Pretty good luck with this particular car so far, fingers crossed. LOL

Thank you qfast817! Saved me a lot of time researching. I found one on Ebay. I will switch them out and and do what you said to the original and keep it for backup. Parts are getting harder to find.

Thanks again for your help! Got the used one today. The nipple on this one is partially rusted too. I'm trying to decide if should just do what you suggested on the new one and then switch it out; or switch them out, which buys me more time, and use your suggestion on the old one as a backup. Either way I'm keeping both, as parts like this are harder to come by. I have a couple of questions at your leisure. Car is currently driveable.

How long did it take you to switch the parts out, not including the work threading and all that? Full time student, part time work with commute, so time restricted. LOL.
Also, any suggestion on where to get the gaskets, o-rings, etc.?

I would say about an hour, drain coolant take off hoses undo 2 10mm bolts and slide off. I would buy a extra oring for the coolant tubethat slides into the housing. I’ve had one break and most hardware stores donor have one that size.

I would rub down the rust spot with some steel wool and us it. Keep the spare to fix for the next time.
