My 2005 Civic VTEC has all the bolt on upgrades- D16y8 intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors, custom 3 inch PVC air intake, DC Sport 4-1 header, 2.25 inch straight pipe exhaust, power steering delete and intake manifold thermal gasket. The only other things that I can think to do is install a bigger throttle body or port the stock one, install a throttle body spacer, port & polish the D16Y8 intake manifold and upgrade the camshaft (if I can find a used one cheap). How much power would I gain doing each of those things, and did I miss any other upgrades that I could do to increase my power? Thanks.

 

my advice is to not waste money on a d17. if you are set on modding it anyway, i suggest tuning. those mods you have arent at full potential without have your ecu retuned.

 

Don't buy any more parts for the engine... especially a throttle body. I agree with the poster above... tuning is going to make the items you have work to their full potential, so buy a Hondata K-Pro for your car and tune it. Then, buy a dry 50 shot of Nitrous and tune it again with the K-Pro. This will allow you to retard ignition timing and provide the necessary fuel delivered directly to each cylinder by your existing fuel injectors.

 

b16 (or B18) swap is the best value for money N/A tuning for d16 engine.

Yes you can have d17 block, cams, ecu remap, ported head, etc.

But with all these you will have max b18's power but with double (at least) coast.

 

It aint worth it. The only way to get any significant power out of a single cam is by going ***** to the walls on parts and a tune. And you still wont be competing with B16/B18s even though you would have spent just about what a swap would have cost you. Just save up and get a b16 or even LS swap. They go for dirt cheap these days and will run circles on a D mildly built D series

 

Guys his Civic is an 05 so he can't do a b series swap. It's either k series or d17

 

oh lol i see that now. I would go K. K20A3 are fairly cheap and are pretty capable with K20A/A2 internals. The single cam isnt gonna maoe any reap gains unless you go forced induction or spend an unnecessary amount on internals

 

what an idiot. I don't know why i saw the "05" and thougt it was "95". Maybe because d16 is typicaly a 90s engine.

 

In his defense he didn't make the title. It was something different, and a mod who can't read changed it to 05 d16y8 lol
