Hello from Washington everyone. I picked up an accord last spring, a 97 without the VTEC

She was pretty solid for a month as a daily driver, until I started pushing her on longer drives. On a trip back from Portland to Seattle, first real hot day of the summer, I noticed the temp spiking on the highway. Since then I've been on a constant hunt for ghost leaks and trying to make sense of inconsistent and changing symptoms to locate cooling system fault.

This sums up most of my experience with cars in the last 12 years or so as well. I've learned my way around an engine as a result, but I've always been a step behind the lemons I love to buy. So I'm making lemonade outta this one if it kills me. At least I've been smart enough to never actually let it overheat, but I've yet to solve the issue.

I'll be sharing more of my recent experience and some pictures of the now nearly dismantled engine in the appropriate sub forum later. I guess this post was more just to vent a bit and say hi.

After I catch up on repairs and maintenance I might consider future upgrades. I think I'd be a bit more inclined if it had VTEC already or if the body was pristine. Who knows, maybe someone here will convince me the SOHC no VTEC is still worth the investment. Cheers!
