2013 A/C Compressor install
I got the compressor completely removed, but I can’t fit it between the K-Frame and the fan assemblies. Also can’t go up by the alternator. Does anyone know the best way to remove the compressor besides having to remove the fan assemblies?
Unbolting the fan assembly wasn't difficult, but I had no way to pull it out once I had it off. I couldn't pull it high enough to give me enough clearance for the compressor either, and ended up bending a few of the fins on my radiator in the process (hopefully I didn't damage it too badly). I had to take off the battery and remove the batter support bracket. Then I had to take off the air intake section going from under the car to the filter box. Once that was out, I was able to get the fan assembly out sideways, then I slide the compressor all the way over and pulled it out.
I wish I would have taken some pictures. Would have been a good DIY, unless I did it the wrong way of course.
The car was wrecked, hit in the front. It looks like the wreck caused the clutch on the compressor to bend, which was why it wasn't engaging, and giving me an awful squeaking noise. What is most frustrating is that the radiator is brand new, so if I need a new one, I am going to be upset.
