Default Conflicting information about battery power

I have a 2009 1.8 4 cylinder civic. I bought a new OBDII code reader a while back, it's a Sears model that's pretty sharp. This reader has a battery/charging system test feature. When used it to test the battery it says the battery fails at 12.2 volts. The charging system passes. But here's the thing, when I test the batter with muli-meter, I get 13 volts. When test the batter with load tester, I get 13 volts, AND it passes the load test with flying colors. I get the same test results on the battery with the multi meter or the load test even when I took the batter out of the car. I assume the reading I'm on the code reader is faulty, but since the reader is getting it's data from the car computer, does that mean the car computer is getting bad readings from the batter? I'm not getting a check engine light triggered by a low battery power reading. I'm just a little puzzled by this conflicting data. Any ideas?
