Opinions on EDM Single Bulb headlamps
I am needing to replace both my passenger headlamp as well as the headlamp bracket and am debating on if I should get a regular USDM unit or if I should swap both sides out and go the EDM route with single bulbs.
Does anyone have the single bulb EDM headlamps, and if so how do you like them? I'm assuming brightness wouldn't be an issue.
What is the wiring like to convert to it?

you need to make a harness to adapt the wiring. no big deal, i think i cut some connectors from the junkyard to make the harness.
overall, there was NO IMPROVEMENT in brightness. this makes sense because its not like 92-95 civics are known for their amazingly bright headlights... same h4 bulb.
to be honest, the 9005 conversion is the most effective, and cheapest, modification to add a brighter headlight to the OEM headlight.
the ONLY benefit i like about switching over to EDM headlights is they just look better having nearly the whole headlight illuminated instead of it looking separated in half like the US spec.
the next best thing i've done to adding effective lighting is talon/eclipse driving lights in my bumper. better than JDM OEM ones ive seen, cleaner too since they fit nicely in both 88 and 90 bumpers, ive done it on both. but better on 90 bumper since it places it closer to the outside corner. really helps illuminate stuff on the edge of the road in a tight turn.

Honestly X2 on the 9005 conversion. Had it since 2010. It's definitely the cheapest option. The 9006 bulbs left me feeling like I could get more light by mounting glowsticks to the bumper. It felt dangerous to drive at night. I just trimmed the tabs on the 9005 bulbs to make them work with the stock connector out of sheer laziness. I even did that conversion on my mom's GMC Safari after seeing how good it was.
My brother has a 90 teg with an HID kit though, and that thing is crazy bright. If you're still craving more light you may wanna go that route, or do the fogs like Tyson suggested.

I actually already did the 9005 conversion, was just debating on if I should go single bulb while I have to replace a headlamp anyway. Looks like I'll just replace the broken lamp and stick with the 9005's. We live out of the city so any night driving I do will result in some dark highways so having the extra brightness is a good thing.
make sure to add a relay. i have my Glass EE8 VTi headlights wired to a relay. they use the standard 9003/h4 (not h4h like JDM EF8).
from factory your low beams should cut out when you activate the hight beams. if you dont add a relay then they will both stay on.

fwiw, i did not create a relay to switch off my lows with my highs. i dont use my highs enough to care, with my driving lights i have all the view i need. i just use it to flash oncoming traffic if needed, or occasionally. seems to have worked fine, not blown up my bulbs.
I like my EDM lights, simply because there are no dimples in the lenses and they are single filament, subtle I know but it does look cleaner. I honestly think the output and beam is a bit better, but barely. Didn't install a relay either, and haven't had any bulb issues having the high/low on at the same time.
