Default roof rack thread size

2006 CRV. What size bolts do I need to attach a roof rack? Tried 1/4-20, 1/4-28 and M6-1.00

No bolts installed? Call dealer and ASK. I doubt Honda 'reinvented' the threaded fastener, so it's gonna be some standard size. 90% chance it's Metric.

When you install rack? Put some GREASE on the threads before socking the bolts down. Makes it much easier to remove and helps prevent rust.

Same problem. Tried all Metric and standard close to size at Ace Hardware and O'reily's with no success.

Try metric bolts like M6-1.0 x 16. Also use a washer.

When Honda painted the CR-Vs they failed to protect the threads of the mounting bolts on the roof so they will likely have paint in them. Use a very small point screwdriver to scrap the paint away from the threads.

After you scrap the paint off, see if the rear license plate bolt threads in. The rear license plate bolt should be M6-1.0 x 20; slightly longer.
