2002 HONDA SHADOW ACE 750 Top shock connection area/

After taking off the seat on my Honda Shadow ACE 750 , I noticed there is threading showing between the shock and the fender. The other side doesnt show these threads. Is it like a spacer because of the chain being on that side?

Please, any one with an 02 Shadow ACE 750, can you check the top shock connection and tell me if both side look exactly the same?
