2010 Honda Civic Lx AC Issues
I've been having some issues with the AC in my 2010 Honda Civic. About a month ago, I got in and started up the car. When I turned the switch that controls how hard the AC is blowing out cold air, nothing happened. There was no air blowing from the vents. I fiddled with it for a minute and then continued driving. I left the blower switch turned all the way up and about 10 minutes later it started working just fine. Since then this has happened 2 or 3 more times. Sometimes I am able to turn the blower switch all the way up and then switch it from cold air all the way over to heat and back and the AC starts to blow out cold air. Usually the system starts to blow out cold air after 10 or 15 minutes of driving. When the AC isn't having this issue, it works just fine - it blows out heat and very cold air on both max and low settings. However, sometimes I am able to hear a funny noise coming from under the passenger side of the dashboard. I can't really explain the noise. I know there are some components (blower fan????) for the AC system under the passenger side of the dashboard. I called my local Honda dealership and they want to keep my car for a day and charge me $130.00 just to look at and diagnose the problem. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars having a dealership fix this issue. I do have a father and step-father who are able to work on vehicles pretty well. I just don't know how to go about trouble shooting the issue. Does anyone on this forum have any idea what could be going on? Does the blower fan need replacing? I'm at a loss. I don't know if it would be a good idea to just pay the dealership to diagnose the problem and then try to fix it on my own or what. Thanks for any help!
