2001 Honda Civic faulty immobilizer
Hey guys, i have a 01 civic and my immobilizer has been acting up lately. It seems to always do so when it gets cold. It wont register the key being inserted into the ignition to start until after it warms up outside and multiple attempts and closing and locking my door. The green key just flashes non stop as if the antenna around the ignition is disconnected. I tried going to the honda dealership but they charge $125 just to talk to the mechanics. There is only one key and its been working fine all summer. Its starting to get a little cold here in texas and this is the most ive ever had to deal with this. I was hoping there was a bypass i could do cause its a beat up car and i dont want to spend too much paying for a new ignition/ecm etc. ive been searching forums for a while now and cant find anything on how to fix except one forum which i will be trying once i get my hands on a multimeter. Thanks for any info and help in advance!
Without a proper response from the immobilizer ring, the ECU will not trigger that the immobilizer has been deactivated when using a proper key. And, sadly, the only 3 components to the immobilizer system are the ECU, immobilizer ring/wiring, and the key itself. You could try and get all three from a wrecked car, but there's no telling what condition they'll be in, plus the key won't match your exterior locks.
So what i just found is that if i put a lighter to my key and ignition itll read the key 🤔 ghetto af but i hope itll work with me in in the meantime til i can find a fix
