Default 1992 Honda Accord LX No Start No Crank

Hello,

I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX. It was working fine, Until the other day. I pulled it up into the driveway, Was wiping off some of the oil on Engine components. Went to start it and I got a no crank no start, With no Engine light on. Checked to see if it was getting a Error Code.. no code at all was given by the car. Has Brand new Battery, Checked it on volt meter getting 12.83 volts when car is off. We can Roll start or pop start it very easy. So it runs, not a internal engine problem. Checked the starter, Its getting Spark and turning over. But we discovered The main Feed wires that go to the starter is dead upon turn of the key no voltage shows up on meter. So went to the fuse/relay box under the dash. Checked all the fuses, all is good their. Actually pulled the starter relay out of the panel. Tested it on ohm meter. opens and closes with a click that is audible. Then we pulled the PGM-FI Main relay out. Looked at the board. no chips or cracks in the board or solder joints. Couldn't see or notice anything defective. Then went to the Ignition switch, after not finding anything wrong with the relays tested the switch, and actually replaced it, needlessly beings it did not fix the problem. Other than It being a Electrical shorted wire some were grounding out, or it maybe being one of the relays even though we tested them. they seem to be good to go. we are stumped. Starter seems legit like previously stated. battery is good. Maybe the actual ignition housing or tumbler and lock mechanism.?? Any help or suggestions would be wonderful. Thank you.(Update) Installed a New PGM-FI Main relay. Did not fix the issue

If you're not getting power to the connector that goes to the starter then you got an issue upstream. Try testing the ignition switch.

You can take out your ignition switch without taking the two bolts off of the column as seen in the video. It's just the two screws holding your ignition switch. Very easy to take off compared to this one.

One of the problems with your post is you said you checked the starter, and that it's getting spark, but also that it's turning over which contradicts you saying it's a no crank no start.

In all likelihood you have a internally corroded positive battery cable. Just to confirm I understand whats happening.......... when you turn the key to the ON (II) position without cranking the engine, all lights come on; however, when attempting to move forward with engine ignition, all you hear is a loud CLICK coupled with all dash lights going dead?

I faced the same problem two years ago with 2001 Accord LX. This was my problem solving approach. The positive battery cable is a Y shaped cable with 2 terminal end points connecting the positive battery post to (1) the starter, (2) under hood fuse box. I suspected the battery lead from the positive battery post to the starter was corroded internally. Minus the end points, this cable is covered by a plastic shield, any corrosion inside this shield is hidden from visual inspection. If you can work a multi meter and also understand ohm's law, check for continuity on all three ends of the cable, check resistance between end points. If not, just move forward to testing starter with remote start switch. I didn't have one, so I purchased a remote start switch, Actron CP7853 ($15) at a local auto parts store. I disconnected the lead connecting the starter to the positive battery cable. I attached one end of the remote starter switch to the starter, the other to the positive battery post. Pushing trigger on remote start switch would start the car every time. I replaced the cable with OEM Honda 32410-S84-A00. Have not had a problem since. Don't go randomly buying parts and replacing random components. Keep things simple. Thing about what is happening. Diagnose, Test, REPAIR if possible, replace only when necessary. Hope this helps.
