Default 30 Years of Aircraft Maintenance. Hello Everyone.

Hello Honda lovers. I am a week end car mechanic, but a 30 year FAA certified Commercial Aircraft Mechanic. My projects as of today are the following, 1997 Acura Integra, 1995 Del Sol. I also have a 2009 Acura MDX with only 60k miles. Other cars are Toyota Sienna for the family. Toyota Paseo for my teen age daughter and a MAZDA 3 for my eldest daughter who is 26 years of age. So i have a fleet of cars that I have to maintain not including my Fathers Toyota Corolla and Lexus RX350. So I hope to learn and get the info I need here and hopefully to also contribute. Take care all.

Joe M.

Default Re: 30 Years of Aircraft Maintenance. Hello Everyone.

Kinda funny that I just saw a post of a guy that says he doesn't torque any thing to specs. I call those guys hacks. I have worked in a Jet Shop where everything is torqued and balanced. I have worked the line for 25 years and I have seen alot of guys that just do good and tight. Most of the time they are in a hurry or just don't feel like looking specs up (good way to **** **** up). They don't even read the manual. My car my life. I do it right and I do it once. I read and I torque per spec. A good mechanic is tedious person who does not cut corners. Those car mechanics that cuts corners to save time, its because your boss tells you the more cars you work on the better you get paid. That's why your not an Aircraft Mechanic. I work on one aircraft where 400 or more people die if i **** up, very big difference. Enough said.
