TCM Problems 1993 Honda Accord LX
Greetings; Re: 1993 Honda Accord LX Transmission Control Module 3780-PT3-A54. I have been given and read a lot of input on the problems associated with the TCM mentioned. I am hoping that the members within will confirm or not the information that I have received so I will be on the right path to a solution. To begin with, I am told that problems with the TCM are frequent. The D4 light on the dash blinks continuously with no pattern to indicate a problem within the transmission. The consensus indicates that the most frequent and "popular" problems are usually a couple of resistors and capacitors that have blown and can be seen displayed on the board with burn or smudge marks indicating a burn out of sorts and some sites are selling a kit with those parts as replacements. Now, I removed the unit from the car and there is no indication that is obvious that something has burned out so, the next step I take is to contact an online module repair center which features a free send and evaluate so I called them. I told the rep about the problem and the fact that I cannot get a code because the D4 doesn't blink with a pattern. His reply was that the unit has a bad microprocessor and that is why the unit cannot send a problem code. Furthermore he told me not to send the unit because it's not repairable and I should be thinking replacement with another unit. Thank You for any input.
