I have an unusual issue with my door locks, the Honda mechanic could not identify the source of the issue. When opening the doors using my FOB (Remote), only the driver door opens, none of the other doors will open, same with the interior switch. Once you start the car and drive off, the doors will all lock as normal (they will also lock with the interior switch). My power windows, sunroof, and trunk release, all work fine. I checked the fuses, all they all appear to be fine, any ideas? Mechanic said it may be the power lock control unit.

 

The way the remote (keyless) works is "Pressing the UNLOCK button one time will unlock the driver’s door. Pressing the UNLOCK button a second time will unlock the front passenger’s door and the rear doors (4-door models)."

If pressing the remote UNLOCK button a second time does not unlock the passenger door, or by using the interior switch, it may be an issue with the Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU). The MICU is part of the under-dash fuse/relay box.

 

I suspect that may be the issue, since the doors do not unlock at all using the remote or interior switch. I may take the battery off, then remove and plug back in the connectors to the fuse box/MICU just to be sure there is not a corroded or bad connection, but I don't really expect that will solve the issue. Dreading a trip to the stealership to have them replace the MICU. Am sure they will charge me $$.

 

Follow-up: Reseated connectors to the MICU/Fusebox as part of the troubleshooting process. The doors started to unlock with remote and interior drivers door switch. Unsure at this point if it resolved the issue or will be an intermittent problem, but two days so far it is working as it should.
