I'm replacing the suspension and when doing the lower ball joints I found a ring blocking one of them, but not the other. I was wondering if I needed it since the axle butts up against hub either way.

It's there for correct fitment. If it's missing, replace it.

 

Yeah, I know, but Stealership said only one that has it is Honda Warehouse in Ca.

Guess my lil Sol will have to wait to get out n about then. Heh

ring knuckle. You can order it from online dealers. If I were you, might as well order other parts too so the s/h won't be so bad.
