Default Troubleshooting:VTEC HighCam. Oil Pressure? Spark? Solenoid? What's the deal?

I have a JDM b18c type r motor 98spec. 68mm Tb, S2 pro series manifold, id 1000cc running on E85. I just had it on the dyno and made 170whp on low cam. When it was time for high cam Vtec would sputter and turns off through the rest of my power band. I switched for a working Vtec solonoid, we jumped it to test it, which for sure it works. Everything electronically has been tested and passed. Im leaning towards a mechanical problem, possibly low oil pressure? Could it possibly be my oil pump that giving enough pressure to the solenoid? If anyone out there can give your best advice or if anyone has had the same problem and knows what it is please let me know in the comments!

Had a similar problem. Swapped solenoids, back probed solenoid to verify b+ was making it to solenoid, cleaned all grounds, bought a oil pressure gauge to verify psi at solenoid, and swapped ecu with known good.

It ended up being a bad #1 oxygen sensor. Car was running a neptune ecu.

What engine management system are you running? If you are running a P28 with Hondata make sure to disable the knock sensor in SManager. Otherwise, it'll run just like you said.
