Hello everyone.
I'm in the process of completing an OBD-1 JDM GSR swap into my '93 del Sol Si. Unfortunately the crankshaft pulley was damaged by the previous owner and needs to be replaced. Even more unfortunate is that the local Acura dealer parts rep informed me that this is a discontinued part.
I was advised that the CTR N1 pulley is an option. I won't be running AC or PS and I understand that the pulley doesn't accommodate for these.
The car is very rarely driven on the street and is really only used for the occasional weekend open lapping sessions. It will get beat on during the lapping sessions. I'm using Innovative Mounts motor and transmission mounts with one firm 60A poly insert and the rest are 75A. There was some "good vibrations" inside the car when I had my NA z6 build.
I've seen posts on this page and a few others that seem to have mixed opinions. Some argue that the lack of harmonic balancing is detrimental to the health and longevity of the motor. Others claim they've used the crank pulley for extended durations without issue.
Can anyone share their opinion of using the CTR N1 crankshaft pulley for a weekend racer? Can anyone share their experience?
Thank you.

I have used them in MANY builds... likely in the hundreds over the years, and only ONE oil pump failure occurred with a CTR pulley. It was on a turbocharged LS/Vtec making nearly 500 wheel HP... strongly wheel hopped on the street all of the way through 2nd gear... revved to 8800 rpm before shifting on the limiter into 3rd. I won't bore you with all of the LOGICAL discussion on why the CTR pulley (or a lightweight aluminum under-drive pulley) will be fine... it would simply take too long. If you do not intend to rev the engine much beyond 8000 rpm, the chances of the CTR pulley being a problem is slim to none. I say run it.
