What is this box????
Can anyone tell me what is this box I found behind the shifter garnish on the left side? The wires were cut about 4 inches from the plug.
Could this have anything to do with my airbag light being on? I didn't look too hard but I could not see the other end of the cut wires.
I just got this car a few weeks ago, and aside from the airbag light being on, everything else seems to be working fine.

You did not mention what model car you have. A quick search for a DC/DC board on the googles yields something about keeping the alternator running in a hybrid when the car shut's down at a light.
Need more info: it really could be anything that needs to step up or down voltage (e.g. for USB devices)

Sorry, it's a 2004 Civic SI hatchback and it doesn't have any electronic devices other than the lighter outlet and radio which are working fine.
I guess I will try to find the cut wires and see if I can figure out where they go.

There should be a part number on the box if it is factory... in addition, the wire colors do not appear factory at all, nor does the molex style plug. SRS (airbag) related devices have yellow connecting plugs on them, so it is not related to your airbag warning indicator on the instrument cluster. Remove it... lighter = faster.
