Exhaust Info: B-Series Swapped USDM 96-00Civic "EK" hatchbacks
Alright, I'd like to create an end-all guideline for exhaust layouts/choices in USDM (and maybe others) 96-00 Civic "EK" hatchback with B-Series motor swaps. With heavy Google searching and research for my own car, I can share this small amount of information and would appreciate others chiming in.
- My car runs a Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust (https://www.redline360.com/tanabe-me...tchback-T70018) which is listed for a "1996-2000 Civic Hatchback (EK)" but it is truly only considering a USDM Civic with a D16Y7 header/cat combo. In order for it to fit with my SMSP replica header, the exhaust's b-pipe was modified to accept a 2.5" "JDM style" collector (https://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/view...idcategory=381) and shortened a bit.
- In order for it to be a 'bolt on' situation, I would have had to run a B16A2/99-00 Civic Si header with a stock-ish collector size (2.25" or 60mm) and it would not have allowed me to run a catalytic converter. The exhaust will bolt directly to the header with this configuration. In order to run a catalytic converter, you will need to modify the b-pipe to accept a "3-bolt" flange. Example:
