black smoke on vtec?

93 eg3 civic. b18c swap (been told its cr) not too sure how to tell with 37820-p08-900 ecu and it survges and shoots black smoke on vtec

Compression test? or something causing a rich condition? Any C.E.L?

Wrong ECU for sure, unless it's chipped and tuned for your specific setup.
