Stuttering when engine is at a steady RPM.
I have a 94 Prelude Si H23A1 all stock no check engine light. I just recently got an issue where the car seems to stutter when at a constant engine rpm. For example I am driving along in 5th gear at 50mph revs are at about 3000rpm or so and every so often the car like lurches it almost feels like I lightly tapped the brakes quickly. The weird thing is there is no noticeable change in the way the engine sounds or the RPMs. The engine also remains responsive, if I floor it the stutter goes away immediately and the cars revs up and delivers power as normal, I have never had the stutter happen when I am going through the rev range it only happens when the car is held at a constant RPM for a bit and does not seem to happen at idle.
Check: grounds, spark plugs, spark plug wire's resistance with ohm meter, try adding some seafoam to fuel tank see if that helps and check back. Also changing the primary O2 sensor will help the most.
Thanks for the responses guys. It has since gotten much MUCH worse. I replaced the rotor since it was only a few bucks, the issue persists. I will try unplugging the EGR as well, have not done that yet. I also put some dry gas and injector cleaner in the tank in case I got some bad gas
Now it will start and idle fine but the moment i touch the gas it stutters terribly throughout the rev range, I limped it to my fiends house and parked it. When revving you can see the engine boucing back and forth as it stutters, it is really quite severe. It happened after driving the car about 50 miles on back roads, then I had to get on the highway, I got up to highway speeds at about 4000rpm then got off the highway and then noticed the issue was 10 times worse than it was before I got on the highway. It is pretty much undrivable at this point. My friend thinks it may be a fuel delivery issue, I will try to make a video of it today. Hoping it's not the fuel pump. I would assume it's either fuel or ignition. Car has 220,000 miles on it by the way.
