Car shuts down
I have a 99 accord and it it is hard to start sometimes. I know it has to do with the factory security system but the car will also completely shut down sometimes while driving. It doesn't do it all the time it is just every once in awhile but it is starting to happen more often. Anyone have any input on this
If there are excess keys, charms, junk on the key chain remove them.
With the engine running normally, jiggle the key around. If the engine stumbles or stalls then it is most likely the ignition switch itself is worn out and needs to be replaced(elctrical plastic part, not the tumbler). Can usually purchase them from RockAuto ~$30.

Another common failure in these cars is the main relay. There are lots of videos on YouTube about it. Mine hasn't failed but when I googled Honda main relay I got these promising looking links

Next time the engine cuts out, note if the tachometer also dies, and not just slowing down as the engine winds down. If the Tach dies it could be the ICM in the distributor is going bad.
