Default Starting issue 2003 Civic Hatch SI

Hello

Hey everyone I just recently bought a 2003 Civic Hatchback SI yesterday
Really awesome car everything went well on the purchase but today early morning 6 am i go to the car and key on and no start!
So im sitting there just trying to figure out the issue after a few minutes i figured it was the starter.
I opened the hood went to tap the starter and nothing. I was so stumped by the issue as it started good the previous day.
Finally i was a bit mad and i was about to jump start the car in reverse so i put the gear in reverse and before i pushed the car i keyed on and it started.
I turned her off again and put her out of gear keyed on and nothing.......after a minute or two i just started to play with the gears going in and out and i key with my left and it starts with reverse engaged.
The car starts when i mess with the gears and engage mainly 4th and reverse

Such a strange issue what could be causing this problem???

Check your charge harness for corrosion or damage. This is a common problem on that car. The trans gear selection is likely merely a coincidence.

Yea its so weird ......I think its the starter because i actually got a round longer stick and started to hit it from the bottom of the car and it started up good after a no start situation.
Yea I'm gonna check the wires as well just to make sure.
thanks for the help bud.
