No oil after rebuild engine
Hi there i have decided to bring this bb6 back after 4 years of storage in my warehouse due to family reason i couldnt do anyhing , just not enough spare time with the babies...
Here is my story ,i got this bb6 and it was about bone stock and i was working with some jdm shop so i have gathered pieces after pieces when we received containers from japan.
I decided to throw and h23a vtec to replace my smoking h22 , it was great but i was looking for something just more fun to drive so i went for a f20b and lsd t2t4 swap.
got the engine rebuild ,installed a balancer delete kit got crower spring and retainer , crower stage 2 cams and aem camgears,,, venom intake , skunk2 TB , rc 440cc , arm fuel rails , aeromotive FPR,
also found a obd2 apexi power fc to get that thing tune ,
Well everything fell when i first try to crank that engine ,,,,, result no oil , nothing ,, 0 psi , oil filter is dry , head is dry, the whole engine is dry.....
i lost faith and sent that bb6 in my warehouse and left it there for the pass 4 years.
i would like to know where should i start with to get that thing fixed. do i need to change the oil pump over ?
I need advise , any help would be much appreciated

yes
i sent the block for new bearing, seals , rings, oil pump , water pump , crank balance ... also sent the head for valves jobs , changed the springs and retainers...
a normal engine refresh as usual.

Yeah I would be checking the oil pump and oil pickup. Does the F20 have the aluminum oil pan like the H22A4, or the steel pan like the H22A1 era? If the pan was dented up against the pickup, it could cause this, or something lodged in there.
If the pump checks out ok, I would hate to say it, but there could have been a problem with the install of the balancer delete parts.

well the f20b came with a steel oil pan but i insalled an aluminum one off my old h22a... dont know if it caused the problem... same deep i didnt check..
for the balancer delete kit , i remembered of fallowing the instruction correctly , i had to plug 1 or 2 hole to prevent oil going to the balancer shaft for nothing since they were removed.
I have came across a thread who the guy was saying he filled the oil pump with Vaseline before installing it so the pump can create suction .

to let anyone know , i rewatched the video of the installation of the balancer delete kit and i really dont think this is the problem but ... i did some research about the idea of a wrong oil pan / oil pickup install and it might be the problem. just because i wanted to use the aluminum oil pan i might have crushed the original f20b oil pickup ... hopefully i never drove the car without oil supply....
this weekend ill swap the oil pickup for a original h22a since i dont have the original f20b oil pan still.
ill try to take pictures of both oil pickup and post it here for future reference if this is the case.

You mean gasket btw oil pickup and oil pump? Yes i have it installed. Ill see this weekend the pan/pickup set i have installed. I think i did installed it wrong...
it sounds to me like the oil pump is dry and not able to prime, aka suck any oil up. I usually coat the internals of the pump with heavy oil when I assemble them so it can produce proper suction to pull the oil up.
Another thing that also works is if you know anyone with an oil prime tank, a pressurized tank you put engine oil in and then compress with air, has a hose on it with verious fittings for the end. you can remove the oil pressure sensor from the back of the block, connect the right fitting to the hose of the tank (1/8" BPST, not NPT), and prime the whole engine with oil for at least 30 seconds using only the tank. it will backfeed to the oil pump, allowing it to make a good seal for when you go to crank it over again
