So I recently picked up a rebuilt y1 cable trans, and after reading up on the early cable (non lsd) b-series transmissions, I found out that they have a habit of puking their diff pins out and destroying the case due to the spider gears chewing through them. So I have a few methods in mind and I would like to see what some of you guys have to say about them
method 1: spot welding diff pin to the differential itself
method 2: sourcing a "strengthened" 92- up diff pin
method 3: combining both method 1 and 2 if possible
method 4: some how figure a way to shoehorn in an itr lsd
also open to more methods thanks

 

will a itr lsd diff fit the b16 ring gear?, seeing that the are both 10-bolt but have different bearings

 

imma just try mthod #2, anyone have any input before hand?

 

Not sure if it has the same shifter fork setup as the J1 trans, but there was a weak point on the 3-4th shifter fork.
Obviously I had a J1, it had a quaife LSD that has since been moved over to a YS1 trans. Not sure that helps much but...
