Default Vin # question: Where was it built??

Tried a search to no avail, but I was curious where my 94' lx was built. It has a blue aluminum plate on the dash and it begains with a J...
SO, the options are Ohio, Canada or Japan, most likely ohio... Anyone?

cheers,
sohc

Ohio, the vin# should start with a 1 if so it's Ohio. The Japan ones start with a J.

Well, it starts with a J though....hmmmm...
Why would it have been shipped over though? was there a huge demand for 94 lx 5 speeds???

second question, while there is a certain "cool factor" it is actually a good thing that it was made in Japan??

cheers

Certain colors in certain trim came here. Your "cool factor of the day" is 95% Japansese-originating parts content (i.e. your transmission AND engine were 'made in Japan'...not assembled in some other country then brought to Japan for final assembly). If you've followed other threads, you seen that J-Vins are rather rare cars in certain parts of this country.

Some ppl might say that J-Vin cars are less prone to mechanical problems in certain categories. Your results may vary; if the orignal owner was a smuck.........

From personal experience ones made in Japan are put together better. Fit and finish is nicer and I think engine tolerances are closer. My parents used to own a 91 SE and 92 EX, the SE was made in Japan and it felt faster although they were the same engine and overall seemed to be made better.
