Icon5 coilovers-need tips on pushing sleeve into top hat!

I just got my gc/koni yellows and getting that little metal sleeve into both of the poly bushings in the top hat are a pain. Does anyone have a tip on how to easily do this?

Stock dampers have 10 mm diameter shafts, Koni yellows have 12 mm shafts. Maybe some grinding is needed to accommodate the larger shaft? It's been a long time, can't recall exactly.

If they're just poly bushings....you need to grease them up and push the sleeve thru.

ITR/S2000/TL-S bushings are the ones that need to be drilled out.

I took an exacto knife and shave just a wee bit of cone in the hole so as the sleeve came through the bottom bushing, it would be able to start to enter the top bushing. That worked like a champ. I used grease, really hot water, brute force, etc. They would just not go in. Once I shave off just a little so the sleeve with a little taper, it went in just fine.

Long bolt, 2 large washers, pair of wrenches.

Or a bench vice if you have one, though I would use some wood to protect things from direct contact with the vice jaws.
