Default 2006 civic SI key programming

Hi guys I'm new to this and found this site during a desperation search. I recently have been experiencing problems with my key remote. I brought it into Honda and one of the service managers told me had an extra key that he can give me but just need to be programmed. Upon programming we came to find out that the key given didn't work. The guy plugged a labtop to my car and I don't know what he was doing but heard the service manager and the tech guy saying something about "report keys as lost". After several tries with no success now my original keys don't work. I'm able to start my car but I can't alarm/unalarm my car with my key remote. A few others tried to program my original keys but no success. I have a KARR security system installed and I think that's preventing it from programming. I've also youtube and tried myself to program the remote key but it's not working. Please anyone have any ideas on how I can get this issue fixed.

Umm I know this probably doesn't help you immediately, but if you've taken it to the garage and they haven't fixed it - assuming you paid for the service - can you not just take it back there?

i have but they're telling me what they think is wrong and want me to start buying and replacing parts. i know none of the parts is the problem because everything was working perfectly fine up until the time they tried to add another key. also they didnt charge me anything.

Whenever they program a new key it erases all of the old ones and you have to reprogram them all. It would be best to find a good car alarm place on Yelp and start calling around.

i think they have reprogrammed my original keys. one of the guys said when he turn the key to the "on" position my lock automatically locks and questioned could that be the cause for it to not program completely? another problem that i wonder about is my trunk sensor was coming on while the trunk was closed. now the trunk light as well as the trunk sensor has burnt out. seems like my trunk wasnt cloing completely or atleast the sensor sensed it was closed completely. can this be a possible problem?

i really appreciate everyone's response.

The aftermarket security system is probably the problem.

i can't really see why someone would install an alarm that has an ignition kill when the immobilizer already performs that function

thank you for your response and input. the issue has been resolved. apparently it had to be done through the computer. not exactly aure what they did but i brought it back to honda and they were able to reprogram it whoch i thought they originally had done before but i guess the person who was doing it didn't know what he was doing.

thank you all for your help. much appreciated.

Most Honda dealers charge a half an hour labor on key programming which can run anywhere from $50 to $70.

i actually didnt have to pay anything because originally they were going to give me a used key since one of my masters were having problems but upon them doing so they realized the used key was not functional. and honestly the guy that did it really didnt know what he was doing. i have a friend there thats a service manager and i told him about it so he had me bring my car back and he was able to get the foreman to program all of my original keys back to working.

very cool, nice to see a dealer going beyond the call instead of just trying to get money
