Password JDM Battery Tie Down
Anyone have any issues with the official PW JDM battery tie down fitting improperly? 2000 Civic Si. I have an Exide oem replacement 51R battery, same size as oem (looked up specs) and the PW JDM tie down hits the firewall. I tried different group 51R batteries, won't fit. All of the same size. I have to lean the battery towards the front of the car in order to make it work. The battery tray is brand new, straight from Honda. It cannot be adjusted or improperly installed.

I have one....It's junk. Official or non-official...it's junk. Look closely at the OEM tie down. It's very thin near where the nut sits allowing plenty of firewall clearance. Now compare it to the aftermarket one. This area is MUCH thicker and therefore prone to hitting the firewall. I have an OEM Honda battery and it still hit. Aftermarket junk. Toss it in the trash.

They probably "insist" their EG/DC carbon fiber fuse box cover fits as well. I'm going to have to shave the entire corner of it off to make it work. lame. Much bigger waste of $$ too.
Password JDM (Made in China) - thicker aluminum, but not exactly the same dimensions as stock
^^^ That's why it doesn't fit correctly
Been out of the Honda game for over ten years. Something as stupid and simple as a battery tie down, you'd figure they would make one that fits lol
Are you saying that because it touches the firewall, it doesn't fit ??? Have you considered grinding off a bit of the flange edge so that it no longer makes contact ???
The entire point of these little "bling" pieces is that they look good in the bay, and yes if the product specifies that it fits the OEM sized battery in the OEM location, and then hits the firewall, then that pretty much by definition means it doesn't fit. Having to grind/chop off the flange end just to make it fit shouldn't be necessary and will grossly impact the appearance.
Looks like PW:JDM just has a bad product here.
I know I can make it work. If I either grind down on it to make it fit (which I won't because I don't wanna rip apart a nice piece), or I angle the battery forward using some rubber on the backside of the battery, but it's hack and I'm not a fan.
I hope you're kidding.
Not entirely... but I get your point. Production cars vary in dimension slightly, and sometimes a product fits car "A" but not perfect on car "B"... for many possible reasons. I just don't see it as a Black/White issue and you have classified it... but a bit more GREY with relatively simple solutions.

I think you are on to something with your second idea... but lets consider this: Maybe the battery tray itself is bent slightly, and simply placing a washer (or two) under the rear most bolt hole would create the same effect as some rubber under the backside of the battery and you wouldn't have to grind on your shiny new PWJDM battery tie down.
