Lowering
Hi,
I have a 1999 Accord coupe. I would like to lower the car and change the wheels.
What do I need to lower the car and what is the widest size wheels and tyres I can have without rubbing.
Thanks

To lower a vehicle you will need front and rear ajustable upper ball joints, even though people would disagree and say just set toe back to zero, its peace of mind to me just get a good set like SPC, a good set of lowering shocks and springs, to drop even more go with coilovers and the biggest tire would be 205-215, with either 55 or 50 series if you plan on keeping the 15' rims, pretty much the same eith 16's also, any more and you will hit, peronally i would first start off with some tokico blues or koni strt orange shocks paird with some pro kits or h&rs and also replace all your worn out bushings with either energy suspension or prothane along with ajustable ball joints up front and ajustable rear control arms. If you want lower get the sportline springs with the koni oranges they pair up real well. This set up will introduce you to how a vehicle handles with a more firm suspension I would not recomend coilover sleaves on the tokico blues or the konis. The blues will crap out real fast if you lower the vehicle to much, the konis will last longer but will eventually faill too, i know they sale coilover sleeves for any shock but if the shock was never designed to support a heavy drop it will fail. Now for a more advance set up you can do the ball joints and bushings springs or coilovers, your choice of either tokico illuminas or koni yellows, both are pretty much the same but are the best you can get for your ride, i personally have the illuminas paird with pro kits. Both offer dampening adjustments and both support low drops and can be paird with coilover sleeves, the konis can either come with the spring perch or you can order them with somewhat intergrated Ground Control Sleeves. My illuminas came with the GCs but swap them out since. Theres more but thats just my 2 looooong cents.
