Default Fuel pump terminal covers question

I bought a replacement fuel pump for a 1990 CRX. Everything is correct except that the original wiring has plastic covers that snap down over the posts on the pump, but the new pump doesn't have a way to snap the covers down. Do I need the covers still? I'm assuming the wiring shouldn't be open to the fuel..

If I do need the covers, can I just silicone them on or something?

This is on a GMB fuel pump.

Thanks.

Default Re: Fuel pump terminal covers question

A picture would help, but as long as the wires or terminals do not touch each other, it will be OK.

The fuel will not conduct 12v, so its fine to leave the terminals exposed, as long as they cant touch and the positive wont be able to touch the chassis the pump is mounted to.
