Default 2006 civic lags when slamming gas pedal down?

Hi guys and gals. Is it normal for a 2006 civic to take awhile to get going when you slam on the gas pedal at 0mph? I notice in my 97 accord that if I slam on the pedal to launch, it gets up and goes instantly. With the civic it takes like 1- 1.5 secs to get going. Is the throttle just not that responsive naturally? It's been like this since we bought the car at 154k miles. Currently at 213k.

1-1.5 sec seems long. I'd blame the drive-by wire (DBW).

if your valves are loud, you may just need to adjust the valves to prevent hesitation, you could also spray the maf sensor with maf cleaner
