Clutch, axle or trans?
So I was at the track with my turbo civic, and I went to do a burnout and herd a pop. I went to take off and the car does not move. It goes into all the gears fine but if I put it in gear and let of the clutch that car just sits there. When I apply gas the speedometer goes up but car doesn't. Also axles aren't spinning? What can this be?
If the speedometer moves, the differential is moving. This means that the clutch is OK. So, this leaves axles and the differential. Do you have a Limited Slip or stock open differential ??? If it is a stock open diff, it is certainly possible that it is damaged. Check to make sure that your axles are FULLY inserted into the differential openings (you didn't mention the engine/trans type, so I don't know if you are using a D-series engine or a B-series engine). If the axles are fully inserted, check the outer boots to make sure that the axles are not broken there. Shake and wiggle a lot... you will know if there is a problem. If they all feel good, then you have likely broken the differential.
I have a b16 trans with an lsd. I got under the car and the axles have a little play but the p/s axle bolt is all wrinkled up? Can something be broken inside of that?
I just went and spun the passenger side wheel and I heard a metal like clanking/grinding noise. Also the other wheel was not moving as I was spinning the passenger wheel...
