Hey guys! I'm a fairly new 1990 Civic Hatch owner and noticed some issues with my rear bumper.
When I purchased the car, the rear bumper was held on by a ratchet strap. I didn't think much of it until I pulled it off today, and oh boy! It turns out both of the rear bumper supports are totally rotted off.
I did some searching around but I haven't found anyone dealing with rot this bad. Anyone have advice? There's have rust on both the body and supports.
click link in my sig, i dealt with the ol' bumper sag...
for one, the rear panel is rotted - that will require fabrication and welding
and two, the whole rebar is likely equally rotted - that will require purchase of a new part (easiest) or making your own rebar (sucky and expensive too)

I checked your thread, looks great! After dealing with all of your rust, do you have any recommendations on an easy way to do it? I know you said you mostly used a hammer and piece of wood for shaping the metal and then welded it in afterwards, and that's pretty much what I was planning on doing.
Also, this car is (hopefully) going to end up as a track car, so I was playing with the idea of a tube-frame bumper support. Is it worth it, or should I just suck it up and buy a new bumper support?
