I have a 1998 Odyssey with an F23A7 its basically a fat accord any I digress. I have been getting a p0171 and a p0170. I have used the search tool on here and google and have tried so many things. Ive swapped injectors, changed the fuel pressure regulator, changed the primary o2, This has just started happening and I cant get it to pass inspection until I fix it and Im down to 15 day grace period xD. It runs fine but when I let it sit and start it I get the code and when I go to touch the gas it sputters and tries to die then it picks up and lunges and straightens out. It performs great when I run her hard sometimes reaks of exhaust fumes and gas fumes. And Ive checked for vacuum leaks and to no avail. Its my daily and Ive had few issues with it. Ive owned it for over a year it has 270k on it and well maintained in my opinion. I just dont know what to do anymore any help would be appreciated thank you all again sorry for the long post.

 

P Codes ? OBD/OBD2 Trouble Codes

 

I appreciate the link but Ive checked the codes and know what they mean. I have an OBD2 reader. I've spoken to a good friend of mine as well who works for a honda dealer he has helped me trouble shoot the best he can remotely that is. I cant afford to take it to the stealership just trying to figure this out.

 

I did a little research for you and found a thread in another forum (involving Lotus cars) talking about the P0171 condition. ECU Gurus... Can Bad Gas Throw A P0171? - LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community

In the thread, there was a question as to whether the code could be thrown due to bad gas or perhaps a "summer blend" (ethanol) of gas during the spring to summer months. This raises the question: Are you filling-up with the cheap regular gas or are you running the higher octane premium gas? Years ago, my vehicles used to always seem to run a little poorly (hesitating acceleration and sometimes different codes being triggered). At that time, I was always running the cheapest and lowest octane gas from the discount gas stations. Once I tried using the premium octane gas ( a bit more expensive) from good reputable gas stations, most all of my problems and codes seemed to go away.

If you haven't tried it, consider paying the extra to fill-up with the premium gas to see if perhaps it may help your situation. By the way, sometimes the premium gas contains additives that help to keep the fuel line, sensors, and general internal engine much cleaner and less subject to fouling than the cheaper gas.
