ok guys i as the title states i am having a cam seal issue with my purpose built drag car.
heres the set up
b18c sleeved block 81.5mm
fully forged internals
89mm crank
b16 stock port head
gsc t1 billet cams
victor x intake 76mm S90 throttle body
aem adjustable cam gears
oem cam seals from honda with silicone
shimmed- stock oil pump 2 1/2 years old,( used on previous set up 500whp for 2 seasons) opened and inspected during winter rebuild
my engine is vented via 2 -10an bungs on front of VC and 2 -10an from rear of block going to my catch can mounted in factory battery location
Brad Penn 10w-30 oil
oil pressure on cold start is 85-90 psi varying with cam lope
after a full 1/8 mile pass oil pressure is 30-40 psi depending on cam lope, idling @ 1500 rpms
the issue first happened on the dyno, during full boost the cam seals were being pushed out and spraying oil everywhere, we pushed them back in on the dyno, after each pull to finish tuning.
took the car home and replaced the cam seals with oem honda seals and hondabond silicone to ensure i didn't have an issue when i took the car to the track. after letting the silicone dry crank the car and everything was fine no leaks from cam seals under idle. the car never see's boost unless its at the track bc i run q16 and have to fill/empty after each track day and run pump fuel through it to keep the injectors happy considering my car sits for days to weeks at a time in between events.
1st track day after fixing the seals and other odds n ends. make 1 pass and go to check everything before another shakedown pass, come to find oil sitting on the meeting surfaces and evidence of oil being thrown from rotation of the engine timing belt/ cam gear etc under idle the cam seals are not leaking, only under full boost(33-35lbs on a BWs366)
i am looking to see if anyone else has had cam seal issues in the past and what i can do try to permanently fix the issue, I've seen v8 guys use cam seal plates, retainer plates etc, but
as you can imagine oil being thrown all around under the hood isn't safe at all for me or anyone who goes down the track after me.
I would think four 10an vents are enough ventilation. though that depends on how big the filters on the catch can are, and if the can is full. post a pic of the catch can?
do a leakdown test too. if the vent setup is good, I'd assume leaky rings, or way too big of ring end gaps
Check your -10an lines running to your catch can and make sure they are not clogged.
i will double check the lines, as only 2 of them were re-used from last year. i added one more to the rear of valve cover to help with pressure at the cam seals.

here is a picture of the set up, the stainless lines on
front are the only lines there were reused from last year. The 2 on rear of block are brand new and the one on rear cam seal side of valve cover is new as of 7-16-17.
Im going to check for blockages.
My catch can doesn't fill up regularly. I may empty it once every other month.
upload the pics from your computer, don't post links from photobucket please. photobucket has been stupid lately not allowing people to view pics unless the poster pays a fee
Here is the pictures of my set up, i made sure none of my old lines were clogged, i blew them out with air hose and can see/feel the air coming out of the filters on top of catch can.
BRMS -10 catch can Silinconed cam seals with Hondabond HT old style valve cover vent recently changed and added -10 port to rear close to cam seals.
