Icon4 2001 civic shift solenoid

Hi, I went to get my transmission done and I have a 2001 civic 2 door. The guy put a 2002 civic 4 door transmission in. At first it drove fine and then my shift solenoid went out. I didn't find out till after I put an 01 shift solenoid in, that I had a 02 tranny. After I changed the solenoid it power surges between shifts. Like it's trying to rev its rpms high enough to shift. Does the wrong year model solenoid affect the transmission?

01-05 takes the same solenoids. The transmission is the same as long as it is for the same model , if you had a EX you need the same Ex.
