Hi. Daughter's car. List: new HG, TB, WP, NGK V Grooves, complete distributor, wires, injector seals, valves .008 ex and .003 intake, comp 165+ to 180, fuel filter. Service plug jumped, but timing mark bounces around a couple degrees at idle. Looks like I cured the cursed 1399 code, finally (long story, don't get me started). Ordered a ngk upstream O2 just for giggles, but won't see it for a few days. No O2 code, but could be (had the code pop up a couple years back, but it cleared and never returned, so...). Anyway, anyone had this timing issue and, hopefully, cure? Thanks!!

 

Should you be disconnecting and pluging the vacuum pipe before checking the timing marks with a strobe!

 

Nope, just jump the service connector.

Thanks. Idle is actually pretty smooth. No surging. No vac leaks detected.
