for EG which is better B18C5 or B20Vtec?
once i turn 18 i plan on getting an EG and do either the B18C5 swap or B20Vtec swap and i am just curious on which would be a better choice and why any help would be appreciated.
SEARCH, but just for fun Ill bite...the b18c5 will have honda factory reliability, but whereas the b20vtec will take more work to build and probobally end up costing you more.
If you have time and plenty of cash B20/VTEC will yeild higher results. Can't go wrong with a facotry prepped semi race motor though. Either way $$$.

b18c5 if u want a daily driver will last longer. in the long run.
i personally tink that if a b20 was so great honda would have made it in the first place.
but then again i guess if it's tune right your good.

b18c5 good reliable power
crvtec = more power/torque a little less reliable than b18c5 because of the non factory(o.e.m) status. but has the greatest power producing potential of frankenstein motors.

they are both very good motors...
Id say the B18C5 motor is a great N/A motor....
Now to the B20/Vtec motor, I plan on doing this swap into my EG soon and i was looking at all the options...So far Import Builders (www.ImportBuilders.com) gets my vote - I havent even had any owrk done yet but I've talked to a guy named Jeff in the Sales Dept. and he seems likea really good guy - I have also heard nothing but good things from people on H-T....Anyways -
I have put together all the packages and parts from IB, and so far the total cost wil be about $6500 for a fully built B20/Vtec motor, Add another 500 for Axles and other MISC you might need....
to spend about $4800 on the C5 motor IMO is not worth it when you can pput another $2500 down and get a built B20/Vtec motor...
Id say SEARCH and then make up your mind after you view all of your choices...

this is what my boy paid for his(but not from ib):
700 for a b20 long block-2500 to fully build(sleeves,rods,pistons)
250 for a gsr head-1300 to fully build(everything)
400 for b16 tranny
and 2500 for misc.(fuel upgrades, ignition, fuel management system, intake manifold, ecu, intake, header, exhaust, axles, mounts,et c,etc) and thats a total of 7650 give or take, some products had to pay taxs too.
my .02 i have the time but no money to to this, actually ive waited 10 months for mine to be done and it finally is. but if you have the time and money to do the b20vtec go that route but you cant go wrong with the infamous B18C5

save yourself some loot and buy a B18C1. if you want to build it, don't spend the extra money for a C5, when all you are doing is getting rid of the parts that make it C5. i say, C1, .0040 over, upper 11to1 pistons, shot peened rods, balanced bottom end, and some skunk2 jun imitation cams. have the head worked and get the skunk2 itr style intake manifold. clutch, flywheel, and an LSD, wow. hot boy ride.
