Power steering pump mishap
so i'm new to this forum and come in with a few questions.
i was trying to replace my power steering pump yesterday and snapped the upper bolt off. That bolt is a massive PIA to get to btw! It appears to me that the engine might need pulled to tap that out because it's so close to the fenderwell? Then I started thinkin well I'll just eliminate the power steering all together and maybe the thing get a few more mpgs. I could take the a/c out at the same time and maybe notice a difference?
Ive read a few things about that though and some people are saying you can't just pull the pump off and drive it old school with no power steering. Is that the case? I'm. It totally closed to the idea of fixing it but if it would require pulling the motor I just don't want to dump that much into it.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks,
paul
