Default 1995 Accord wagon, chipped paint.

Having obtained a new wagon this past weekend and noticed the paint in the area behind the driver rear door window had some rust on it. When I looked at it, it came off as a single large chip. I can see the surface rust under it, however Im not sure how to at least repaint in that area since the chip looked to have some thickness to it, ~ 1/16" It doesnt look like bondo but Im curious as to what the repainting process for this is.

You should sand off any current rust and take it down to bare metal then spray some primer over it and use touch up paint or reprint that whole panel. You can use SS or enamel to touch it up but it won't look nice.

If you just put paint over the rust, the paint will just lift after a while and the metal continue to rust.

Thank you, it was just I had never seen paint come off in that thickness of a chip. I intend to lift the area around it and sand off the rust and reprint with rust inhibitor. But not Sure what paint to apply since the car appears to have base and clear coat

Paint from the factory is pretty thick too after the primers and BC/CC.
Probably just factory paint and has been repainted a few times.

You should use the original BC color and regular clear.
